We the undersigned petition the Council to remove kissing gates that discriminate against disabled park users. These gates also impede bicycles and pushchairs. Illegitimate park users should not be prioritised over legitimate park users. Alternative barriers exist that allow unimpeded access. The Council is meant to choose the least restrictive barrier not the most restrictive one.
The Equality Act 2010 says disabled people should not be treated
differently to others. It also calls for barriers to disabled
people to be removed. Coventry City Council is not exempt from
this.
