Plaque to commemorate Frederick Douglass 1847 visit to Coventry

We the undersigned petition the Council to install a plaque to commemorate the famous abolitionist and escaped slave, Frederick Douglass who visited Coventry and gave a speech at St Mary's Guildhall. The people of Coventry later raised funds to help Douglass to buy his own freedom. We are asking Coventry City Council to install a plaque, preferably on or near to the Guildhall, to commemorate this visit and the part played by the people of Coventry in freeing Frederick Douglass.
