Quinton Pool is a much-loved part of our community, enjoyed by local families, residents and visitors. However, it has been overlooked for too long and is in need of greater investment and regular maintenance.
We are calling on Coventry City Council to:
- Commit to regular maintenance and cleaning of the pool and
surrounding area, ensuring it remains safe, attractive and
welcoming.
- Install clear, prominent signage discouraging feeding of wildlife
and littering, helping to protect the pool’s environment and
water quality.
- Introduce a small, suitable children’s play area, giving
local families access to basic recreational facilities close to
home rather than requiring them to travel across the city.
- Carry out regular dredging and management of the pool, helping to
prevent the build-up of silt and maintain its long-term
condition.
- Improve water aeration, supporting healthier water conditions and
reducing problems associated with stagnant water.
- Explore the installation of a suitable water fountain/aeration
feature to improve water circulation, support the health of the
pool and enhance its appearance.
This investment is particularly important now, as the Memorial Park is expected to remain out of use until summer 2027, leaving local families with even fewer accessible recreational facilities within the area.
We believe Quinton Pool deserves better. With appropriate investment and ongoing maintenance, it could once again be a valuable community asset — providing a pleasant environment for residents, supporting local wildlife and giving families a welcoming place to enjoy close to home.
We therefore ask Coventry City Council to listen to local residents, recognise the importance of Quinton Pool to Cheylesmore, and commit to a programme of investment and improvements that will allow our community to be proud of it once again.
It is time to invest in Quinton Pool and give this much-loved community space the care and attention it deserves.
