We the undersigned petition the Council to save the Meriden-Gap Green Belt.
This petition OBJECTS to the proposed modification of the Green Belt boundary in the Coventry Local Plan, to remove the entire land ‘North of the A45 and West of Brick Hill Lane’ from the Green Belt and its entire employment allocation, in response to AP66 (IN15).
The objection is based on:
This site was previously excluded from Coventry City Council’s review of its Local Plan after undertaking a thorough and considered assessment and rejecting the site, notably because of negative effects on productive agricultural land (potentially Grade 3a or above), and major negative effects on the purposes of the Green Belt. This is especially with regard to avoiding urban sprawl and coalescence at the western edge of the urban area (known as the Meriden Gap within Ancient Arden), which has been shown to be very sensitive.
