17.5m high mobile telephone mast in the Earlsdon Conservation Area

We the undersigned petition the Council to determine that prior planning approval is required (PL/2026/0000993/PAEC) for the installation of a 17.5-metre telecoms mast and 3 large equipment cabinets on the site of 11 Clarendon Street (CV5 6EW).

This installation goes against the principles of the Conservation Area and also the National Planning Policy Framework’s guidance on conserving and enhancing the historic environment.

It will be incongruent to the skyline of Earlsdon and cause harm to the local community, environment, character and visual amenity.

• Severe Visual Impact & Scale: A 17.5m mast will cause permanent, significant and irreversible harm to the local skyline.

• Harm to Conservation Area: This mast is entirely out of character to the conservation area and conflicts with Coventry’s design policies protecting conservation and residential character.

• Inappropriate Siting in a Dense and residential Area: Earlsdon neighbourhood is tightly built with narrow streets. Heavy vehicle access for installation and maintenance poses safety and noise disruptions.
There could be road safety and pedestrian risks.

• Apparent Failure by the Planning Applicant to Explore Appropriate Alternative Sites.

• Loss of Residential Amenity & Wellbeing: A 17.5m mast directly adjacent to family homes is visually oppressive, intrusive, and undermines the right of residents to enjoy their properties.

We want to protect our heritage.
