We the undersigned petition the Council to designate Walsgrave on Sowe a Conservation area to Protect Our Heritage and Open Green Spaces
We, the undersigned residents of Walsgrave, call on Coventry City Council to protect the historic character and heritage of Walsgrave by designating it as a Conservation Area.
Walsgrave is a community rich in history, shaped by its historic buildings and valued open green spaces. These spaces are vital not only for the wellbeing of residents, but also for local biodiversity, air quality, and the overall character of our neighbourhood.
Increasing pressure from speculative development risks erode these important assets, often without sufficient regard for long-term community impact.
Conservation Area status would help ensure that future development respects Walsgrave’s historic significance, protects important architectural features, and preserves the overall character of the neighbourhood for future generations.
We therefore call on Coventry City Council to:
• Formally designate Walsgrave as a Conservation Area,
recognising its historic and architectural importance.
• Protect and preserve heritage assets, including historic
buildings and local landmarks.
• Protect existing open green spaces from inappropriate or
speculative development that undermines the quality of life for
residents.
