The area in question sits on the north side of the A45 and is
currently shown on Coventry City Council's interactive planning
policy map as part of the West Midlands Economic Zone - and
therefore cannot be considered safe from development.
With the West Midlands Local Nature Recovery Strategy now a legal
requirement and the need for planning authorities to ensure 10%
Biodiversity Net Gain in relation to any approved development, the
Baginton Fields nature reserve offers an opportunity to directly
enhance nature provision within the city boundary. Close to
existing residential areas, Stonehouse, Willenhall and Whitley, if
it is formally designated as a Local Nature Reserve, it can be used
to offer up BNG credits for the anticipated industrial development
in the Economic Zone making up the nature deficit suffered by such
development close to the 'protected' River Sowe corridor as well as
in other parts of the city.
Please support the formal designation of Baginton Fields nature
reserve as a legally recognised Local Nature Reserve - protecting
it from development for at least 30 years, for the benefit of
Coventry residents health and well-being going forward.
