Clifford Bridge Road is a 'B' class road (B4082) and should be experiencing a much lower density of HGV traffic. Due to HGV traffic, residential daily life is unnecessarily and most unfairly being exposed to an excessive amount of harm on a continual basis. Local air quality is often reported as poor by residents albeit, and surprisingly, this most key health indicator is not automatically monitored by the council.
Knock on effects include a reluctance to open windows and a reluctance to cross the road on foot. Getting in and out of parked cars is risky. The soon to be installed floating island bus stop(s) on Clifford Bridge Road will certainly force bus passengers to stand and wait for a bus too dangerously close to passing HGV's without any physical safety protection barrier between them and the passing vehicles.
The overall situation of allowing HGV's to continue to use Clifford Bridge Road, is unnecessarily hazardous, most harmful to physical and mental health, is not at all sustainable, not environmentally friendly and requires Coventry City Council to intervene at pace.
We therefore ask that Clifford Bridge Road be given a maximum weight restriction of 7.5 tonnes imposed on all commercial vehicles, except for loading/unloading of goods, between the A46 link Road and the junction of the B4428 Brinklow Road.
By restricting the use of HGV's on Clifford Bridge Road, the lifestyles all residents in the area, including their mental and physical health will be much improved. This traffic enforcement change will help to level up our local community enabling us all to flourish and improve our living environment.
