Petition to Introduce a Residency Car Parking Scheme on Cross Road

We the undersigned petition the Council to introduce a Residential Parking Permit Scheme on Cross Road.

We, the undersigned residents of Cross Road, respectfully petition Coventry City Council to implement a Residential Parking Permit Scheme on our street.

Our request is driven by the following concerns:
1. Lack of Available Parking for Residents: Non-resident vehicles, including commuters and visitors to nearby amenities, often occupy the majority of available spaces, leaving residents unable to park near their homes.

2. Increased Traffic and Congestion: The high volume of non-resident vehicles looking for parking creates unnecessary traffic congestion, contributing to noise, air pollution, and safety hazards, especially for children and elderly residents.

3. Safety Concerns: Irresponsible and illegal parking by non-residents — including blocking driveways, double parking, or parking on pavements — has increased the risk to pedestrians and has caused access issues for emergency and service vehicles.

4. Quality of Life Impact: The constant struggle to find parking and the associated stress has diminished the overall quality of life for residents.

5. Loss of Property Value: The congestion has also cause the properties of this area to lose its value because of the difficulty of access shuns away potential buyers.

6. The introduction of parking residency permit on other streets (eg Bryn street, Crossley Court) in Foleshill has caused all traffic to pass here looking for car parking.

We believe that a residency-based parking scheme, with appropriate permits and enforcement measures, would:

• Prioritize parking for residents and their visitors;
• Improve safety and accessibility;
• Reduce non-resident traffic; and
• Restore the residential character of our street.
• Prevent from the loss of property value of the street

We urge the council to initiate a consultation process with residents and consider the implementation of a Residential Parking Permit Scheme at the earliest opportunity.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
