Various Trading Standards issues at local shop

Minutes:

RESOLVED that, having considered a report of the Director of Street Scene and Regulatory Services:

 

1.  The Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013, the Toy Safety Regulations 2011/Consumer Protection Act 1987, the Food Safety Act 1990, the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, the Trade Marks Act 1994 and the Licensing Act 2003 Section 146 – Sale of Alcohol to Children against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged Trading Standards issues at Super Mart, 109 Proffitt Avenue, Coventry.

 

2.  That authority be delegated to the Director of Street Scene and Regulatory Services to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

RESOLVED that, having considered the circumstances set out in the report of the Director of Street Scene and Regulatory Services now submitted:

 

1.  The application for a Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence by Mr Asrar Ahmed not be granted.

 

(Note: Mr A Ahmed chose not to participate in the remotely held meeting but submitted a written representation in support of his case that was read out at the meeting.)

 

Arising from their discussion, the Committee asked officers to investigate the following:

·  Guidelines around correct loading of wheelchairs

·  Feasibility of using a ‘totting up’ process for offences
