Dirty conditions and failure to protect food from contamination at a fast food takeaway

Minutes:

RESOLVED that, having considered a report of the Executive Director of Place, the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under (EC) 852/2004 (Regulation 19) of The Hygiene of Foodstuffs regulations against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged dirty conditions and failure to protect food from potential contamination at Stoney Fried Chicken, 217 Stoney Stanton Rd, Coventry, CV1 4FT.

 

In addition it was agreed to delegate powers to the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport and Highways to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

Minced lamb sold containing substantial amounts of pork, beef and chicken

Minutes:

RESOLVED that, having considered a report of the Executive Director of Place, the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under Section 14 of the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged sale of minced lamb containing substantial amounts of pork, beef and chicken at Joe’s Family Butchers, 1035 Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV6 6ER.

 

In addition it was agreed to delegate powers to the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport and Highways to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

Mouse Infestation and Poor Conditions at a Supermarket

Minutes:

RESOLVED that having considered a report of the Executive Director of Place, the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under (EC) No 852/2004 (Regulation 19) of The Hygiene of Foodstuffs and associated regulations against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged mouse infestation and poor conditions at PolskieDelikatesy Smaczek, 4-6 Shelton Square, Coventry, CV1 1DG.

 

In addition it was agreed to delegate powers to the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport and Highways to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

RESOLVED that having considered a report of the Executive Director of Place, the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under (EC) No 852/2004 (Regulation 19) of The Hygiene of Foodstuffs and associated regulations against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged mouse infestation and poor conditions at Pizza King and Kebab House, 619 Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV6 5JR.

 

In addition it was agreed to delegate powers to the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport and Highways to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

Poor Conditions at a Cake Shop

Minutes:

RESOLVED that having considered a report of the Executive Director of Place, the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under (EC) No 852/2004 (Regulation 19) of The Hygiene of Foodstuffs and associated regulations against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged poor conditions at Egg Free Cake Box Ltd, 432 Foleshill Road, Coventry, CV6 5JX.

 

In addition it was agreed to delegate powers to the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport and Highways to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

Non-compliance with a Formal Notice under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949 (Report 02)

Minutes:

RESOLVED that, having considered a report of the Executive Director of Place, the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949 against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged non-compliance with a Formal Notice served under the above Act on the owner of 400-402 Foleshill Road , Coventry, CV6 5AN.

 

In addition it was agreed to delegate powers to the Assistant Director for Planning, Transport and Highways to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

100.

Applications for the Grant/Suitability to hold Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Drivers' Licences

Minutes:

RESOLVED that having considered the circumstances set out in the reports of the Executive Director of Place now submitted:

 

(a)  The Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence held by Mr Nurul Muhammed Alam be confirmed and the Executive Director of Place be instructed to issue him with a written warning.

 

   (Note: Mr Alam and his representative attended the meeting in support of his case.)

 

(b)  The application for grant of a Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence by Mr Talbinder Singh Banwait be approved with a written warning.

 

   (Note: Mr Banwait attended the meeting in support of his case.)

 

(c)  The application for grant of a Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence by Mr Abdelkerim Zeinu be refused.

 

   (Note: Mr Zeinu attended the meeting in support of his application.)

Minutes:

(a)  CSE Training Update

 

The Committee received a briefing on CSE training for existing taxi drivers and new applicants.  Following discussion, the Committee instructed officers to issue a one month timeframe for drivers to book themselves onto the CSE training course.  Those who did not comply would have their licences reviewed.

 

(b)  Thanks

 

On the occasion of his last meeting before retiring from the Council, the Chair, Councillor Galliers, thanked members of the Committee and officers for their work over the past year.   Members of the Committee paid tribute to the work undertaken by Councillor Galliers as Chair of the Committee and wished him well for the future.
