Consultation

West Midlands Combined Authority Mayoral Consultation

Purpose of the consultation

Coventry people are invited to have their say on the possible roles, responsibilities and powers of a new mayor for the West Midlands.

The region will have its first elected mayor in May 2017 who will work with council leaders across the West Midlands on issues like transport, highways and infrastructure projects.

An elected Mayor for the area was a condition of the historic devolution agreement agreed earlier this year between the government and councils across the West Midlands which will see £36.5million a year of new investment over the next 30 years devolved from Whitehall to the West Midlands.

Now the West Midlands Combined Authority wants to know what businesses, community groups, partners and residents think the responsibilities of a new mayor should include.

The Mayor will work closely with the newly formed combined authority board, made up of seven leaders from councils including Coventry and local enterprise partnerships across the region.

The consultation runs until August 21, and people can have their say by visiting www.westmidlandscombinedauthority.org.uk
