Minutes:

Councillors R Brown and R Thay both declared an interest in the matter referred to in Minute 58 below (Review of Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence and Private Hire Driver’s Licence).  They withdrew from the meeting during consideration of the item.

Rats and Poor Conditions at a Milk Delivery Dairy

Minutes:

RESOLVED that, having considered a report of the Deputy Chief Executive (Place), the Council Solicitor be authorised to institute legal proceedings under the Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013 against appropriate persons in respect of the alleged poor food hygiene conditions and an active rat infestation at Dhillon Dairy, Hales Industrial Park, Coventry, CV6 6AL.

 

In addition, it was agreed to delegate powers to the Director of Streetscene and Regulatory Services to authorise legal proceedings for any further offences which may come to light before the case under consideration has been resolved in court.

RESOLVED that, having considered the circumstances set out in the reports of the Deputy Chief Executive (Place), now submitted:

 

(a)  The Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence held by Mr John Avtar Singh Hayre (currently suspended until the renewal date of 26 November 2018) not be renewed.

 

(Note: Mr Hayre attended the meeting in support of his case together with his representative).

 

(b)  The Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence held by Mr Anthony Kumar Verma be confirmed with a written warning.

 

(Notes: (1)  Mr Verma attended the meeting in support of his case together with his father

(2) Councillors Brown and Thay withdrew from the meeting during consideration of this item).

 

(c)  The Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence held by Mr Chaudhry Muhammad Ali be renewed with a written warning.

 

(Note: Mr Ali attended the meeting in support of his case together with his representative).

 

(d)  The Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence held by Mr Mohammadain Sulaiman Ali Younis be confirmed with a written warning and a requirement to undertake relevant training to be organised by the Taxi Licensing Office.

 

(Note: (1)  Mr Younis attended the meeting in support of his case together with his representative

  (2)  The complainant also attended the meeting in support of her complaint)

 

(e)  The Hackney Carriage Driver’s Licence held by Mr Hussain Ali Chaaban be revoked.
